anno m. (pl. anni)
year
- un anno dopo l’altro – year in year out / year after year
- di anno in anno – from year to year
- anno bisestile – leap year
- Ha dodici anni – He is 12 years old (lit. he has 12 years)
- anno luce – light year
- gli anni Venti – the twenties (1920s)
- Lei porta bene gli anni – she doesn’t look her age (lit. she carries the years well)
- ultimo dell’anno (San Silvestro) – New Year’s Eve
- Capodanno – New Year’s Day
- Felice anno nuovo! – Happy New Year!

Luci d’Artista, Turin

Luci d’Artista is a spectacular display of lighting around the city of Turin, Piedmont. It is organised by Contemporary Arts Torino and is now in it’s 11th year. There are works by nineteen different artists.

This week the word is travolgere. It appeared in four different articles on the front cover of a daily paper.

- L’Italia è di nuovo travolta dal maltempo – Italy is again engulfed by bad weather.

- Travolta dal tram, non ce l’ha fatta – Run over by a tram, she hasn’t pulled through.

I Presepi di Cracovia

These nativity scenes or Kraków szopka, which are quite different from the ones we have come to expect in Western Europe, are on loan from the city of Krakow, Poland.

Rome 320 AD

Have you ever wonder what it would be like to step back in time and visit ancient Rome? Well wonder no longer! Now, thanks to Google Earth it is possible to see what the city looked like on 1st April 320 AD, when the emperor Constantine ruled. Marvel at the 6,700 digitally reconstructed buildings and even look inside ten of them. This is Rome at the height of its architectural glory.
