Remember Remember the …

Written by admin on 30 October, 2009 – 7:11 pm -

13 December. Ok, it’s not the date most of us associate with the famous Guy Fawkes saying, but it is an important date all the same. On this day Italy will become a little bit shorter.

La Freccia Rossa or Red Arrow high speed train will introduce some new lines and services, which will offer a viable alternative to the plane.

Rome – Milan 2 hr 59 min
Turin – Milan 1 hr
Turin – Rome 4 hr 10 min
Naples – Milan 4 hr 10 min
Bologna – Florence 37 min
Rome – Naples 1 hr 10 min
Milan – Florence 1 hr 45 min
  • 72 trains each day of which 28 are FAST.
  • Rome – Milan for €99 return 2nd class or €149 1st class. The new journey time is 30 minutes faster than December last year when this route was first introduced.
  • Turin – Rome for €99 return 2nd class or €149 1 class. The new journey time is one and a half hours less than the current and there will be 12 trains per day.

Freccia Argento Services

Rome – Verona 3 hr
Rome – Bari 3 hr 59 min
Rome – Lamezia Terme 3 hr 59 min

    Special Offers.

  • Until 28 February: Turin – Milan will have 2 for 1 tickets available.

There will also be a carta fedeltà which allows points to be collected. These can be redeemed with free journeys or gifts. Of interest to green travellers will be the tickets which will indicate the carbon dioxide emissions saved in respect to the plane or car.

Read what the Press are saying or visit Trenitalia for more information.

Has anyone had any experience travelling on this high speed rail network? If so please let us know how good (or not) it was.

Turin (Torino) to Rome (Roma) for 4.10 euro. Great price, but how much to get back?

We like the 2 for 1 tickets from Torino to Milano. We used to buy those when travelling on the Eurostar. Great value.

Seems an interesting price. Will you take advantage of it and go somewhere? :)

I’d love to go to Rome. This might be the answer.

I’ve never been to Rome (Zeno has), if you go take lots of pics.
The fireworks were very nice, thank you!
Ah, we had to close Italian Cozy Corner for a while, but will be back ASAP! :)
