Mangialonga: 4k Enogastronomic Walk
Written by admin on 30 August, 2010 – 10:53 pm -
Mangialonga is a 4km walk through the beautiful vineyards of La Morra and the Langhe in Piedmont, North West Italy. En-route are 6 pit-stops to refuel with wine and Piemontese gastronomic delights. With 2000 participants this event took place on Sunday 30 August. Highly recommended, it is one of my finest experiences since moving to Italy five years ago. Eat (and drink) your hearts out!

Menu
- Aperitif with typical products from Montalto Ligure (Liguria) and Bordeaux wines
from the village of Rauzan (France) - Salumi Nostrani and lard. Dolcetto DOC from La Morra.
- Agnolotti al plin al sugo di carne (traditional handmade ravioli with a meat sauce). DOC red wines from La Morra: Nebbiolo d’Alba, Barbera d’Alba, Langhe…
- Bocconcini di vitello Mangialonga con polenta del Mulino a pietra di Renzo Sobrino (bitesize pieces of Mangialonga veal with stone-ground polenta from Renzo Sobrino). DOCG Barolo from local producers.
- Selection of cheeses from the Cuneo valley. DOCG Barolo from local producers.
- Desserts from Giovanni Cogno. DOCG Moscato d’Asti.

A day to treasure. 40 euro should ensure the riff-raff are kept out. I suppose it is only the cost of a very good bottle of wine.
